Biography

Salvatore di Gregorio, a cart driver, the son of Gioachino di Gregorio and Vincenza lo Piccolo, marries Domenica Misuraca, the daughter of Salvatore Misuraca and Biagia Governali, on 18 November 1882 in Corleone. Domenica is 23 and Salvatore is 34.[1]

Domenica and Salvatore have at least two children, Vincenza (1883) and Biagia (1892).

Vincenza is born on 29 August 1883 in Corleone and baptized on 1 September. Her godparents are Leoluca Grizzaffi and Lucia Labruzzo, a married couple.[2]

Biagia is born on 12 March 1892 in Corleone and baptized the next day. Her godparents are Giuseppe Armato and Giuseppa, his sister, both unmarried. [3]

Salvatore and his wife and children emigrate on the Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm, sailing from Palermo via Naples and arriving on 17 October 1894 in Ellis Island. Their hometowns/birthplaces are not recorded. They travel among several families who have also been positively identified as coming from Corleone. All passengers are going to New Orleans. A partial list follows:

313 Giovanni di Giglia, 29 (b. 1865)

314 Ignazio Aiello, 30 (b. 1864)

315 Antonino Aiello, 3 (b. 1891)

316 Salvatore di Gregorio, 46 (b. 1848), cart driver

317 Domenica Misuraca, 34 (b. 1860), wife

318 Vincenza di Gregorio, 10 (b. 1884)

319 Biagia di Gregorio, 2 (b. 1892)

320 Leoluca Ridulfo, 37 (b. 1857)

321 Antonino Ferrara, 46 (b. 1848)[4]

A note on her baptismal record says Biagia marries in Los Angeles, California on 26 September 1909 to Vito Gennusa, son of Domenico, from Porto Reale, Trapani.
